Question 12

How can I be sure about the quality of the consignment products?

Accepted Answer

All our consignment products are professionally checked and tested. We run them in a test box for analysis and share that information with you.

Question 13

How are the consignment products cleaned?

Accepted Answer

We clean and sterilize all products using a UV-C sterilization oven. Hearing aids are programmed to a mild-moderate hearing loss, and the receivers are also sterilized. If still in warranty, we send them to the manufacturer for a clean, check, and refurbish so they are ready to sell in like-new condition.

Question 14

Are the tips or domes at the end of the receivers new?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the tips or domes at the end of the receivers or tubing are new. Additionally, we provide a small free assortment of tips/domes with the hearing aid receiver or tubing.

Question 15

Can I return a consignment product if I am not satisfied?

Accepted Answer

Consignment products are mostly non-refundable. However, we are willing to work with you — and if needed, we can help you sell your hearing aids.

Question 16

Why should I consider buying used hearing aids?

Accepted Answer

Used products help the environment by recycling working items and offer an affordable option for quality without the high cost. Our consignment store combines accessibility and affordability.

Question 17

How does the consignment process work for sellers?

Accepted Answer

Reach out with your product brand and serial number. After we confirm suitability, become a member and pay the consignment fee. The percentage we collect from the final sales price depends on the product’s value.

Question 18

Why do I need to become a member in order to sell in the consignment store?

Accepted Answer

Becoming a member helps support our mission to offer competitive and transparent pricing. Members are rewarded with special perks — like selling on our consignment store.

Question 19

Can I request my product back if it hasn't sold?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can request your product back if it has not yet sold. You are responsible for return shipping, and the consignment fee is non-refundable for unsold products.

Question 20

What should I do if I have questions about a product?

Accepted Answer

Reach out via our contact form. We prefer email inquiries and will respond promptly.

Question 21

Can I get assistance adjusting a used hearing aid to my specifications?

Accepted Answer

Yes — services are sold separately, and a hearing healthcare provider near you will also charge for their time.

Visit our Repair Services page, fill out the repair request form, print the confirmation, and send it along with your hearing aid to our address.

Question 25

How can I provide feedback on the issues I'm experiencing with my hearing aid?

Accepted Answer

When filling out the repair request form, provide detailed information about the problems you’re facing. This helps us tailor our approach to your concerns.

Accepted Answer

Objective Testing uses a test box to assess amplification, distortion, battery drain, attack and release times, microphone health, and overall output — identifying issues not immediately apparent.

Accepted Answer

Our in-house lab handles many repairs. For more complex issues, we collaborate with a specialized local lab in Minnesota to ensure the best possible care.

Question 28

Are there common issues that are covered in the repair process?

Accepted Answer

Yes — wax blockage, microphone debris, and moisture damage are addressed. Parts under $50 may be covered; more expensive parts may add to repair costs.

Question 29

How do you communicate with customers throughout the repair process?

Accepted Answer

We stay transparent. If your device needs manufacturer service, we’ll notify you of potential extra costs. If you decline, we’ll return the hearing aid and refund you minus $40 for time invested.

Question 30

Are there alternatives if repair costs become prohibitive?

Accepted Answer

We may explore consignment hearing aids in working condition as a cost-effective alternative. Repair warranties vary based on associated costs.

Question 31

Do I need hearing aids?

Accepted Answer

If you’re struggling to hear conversations, turning up the TV, asking others to repeat themselves, or feeling fatigued after listening, hearing aids may help. We encourage a professional hearing evaluation.

Question 32

Will hearing aids restore my hearing to normal?

Accepted Answer

Hearing aids do not cure hearing loss, but they significantly improve clarity, understanding, and comfort. Modern devices help your brain better process sound.

Question 33

How long do hearing aids last?

Accepted Answer

Most hearing aids last 3–7 years, depending on usage, care, and technology needs. Most come with a three-year warranty.

Question 34

Are hearing aids covered by insurance?

Accepted Answer

Coverage varies by plan. Medicare generally does not cover hearing aids, though some Medicare Advantage plans offer discount programs. We’re happy to help you understand your options.

Question 35

Do hearing aids prevent hearing loss from getting worse?

Accepted Answer

They don’t stop hearing loss from progressing, but they can help prevent listening fatigue, social withdrawal, and cognitive strain by keeping your brain engaged with sound.

Question 36

Can hearing aids cause ear infections or discomfort?

Accepted Answer

When properly fitted and cleaned, they are safe and comfortable. Poor fit or hygiene can cause irritation — reach out to a provider if you have discomfort or pain.

Question 37

What type of hearing aid is right for me?

Accepted Answer

It depends on your hearing loss, lifestyle, dexterity, cosmetic preferences, and budget. We also offer affordable consignment options.

Question 38

Do I need one hearing aid or two?

Accepted Answer

If hearing loss is present in both ears, two hearing aids are usually recommended for better localization, speech understanding in noise, and listening comfort.

Question 39

What features should I look for in hearing aids?

Accepted Answer

Popular features include rechargeable batteries, Bluetooth for phones and TVs, background noise reduction, directional microphones, and remote adjustments via telehealth.

Question 40

How do I care for and maintain my hearing aids?

Accepted Answer

Daily cleaning, safe storage, keeping them dry, and regular professional checkups are key. Visit our blog for more cleaning and prevention tips.

Question 41

How long does it take to get used to hearing aids?

Accepted Answer

Most people adjust over a few weeks as the brain relearns how to process sound. Follow-up care and fine-tuning help ensure a smooth transition.

Question 42

How much do hearing aids cost?

Accepted Answer

Costs vary by technology and services. We believe in transparent pricing. Consignment options typically range from about $500 to $3,000 a pair.

Question 43

Is there a trial or return period?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Hearing aids have a state trial period of 30–60 days so you can feel confident in your decision. Policies vary by state.

What happens if my hearing changes or my hearing aids need repair?

Accepted Answer

Hearing aids can be reprogrammed as needs change. Many devices include manufacturer warranties, and our team provides ongoing repair and adjustment support.

Do hearing aids make static or whistling noises?

Modern devices minimize feedback. Proper fitting and programming greatly reduce whistling. See a provider if you hear feedback so they can stop sound leakage.

Most users report improved communication, greater confidence, and less listening fatigue. Today’s devices are discreet and comfortable.

Prescription hearing aids are medical devices customized for your hearing loss and programmed by a licensed hearing care professional based on a comprehensive hearing evaluation.

Question 49

How are prescription hearing aids different from over-the-counter (OTC) hearing aids?

Who should consider prescription hearing aids?

Accepted Answer

They are recommended for moderate to profound hearing loss, complex needs, or anyone who wants personalized care, optimal performance, and long-term support.

Yes. A clinical hearing test is required to determine type and degree of hearing loss. An online “hearing test” does not replace a professional evaluation.

Accepted Answer

Coverage varies. Some plans offer partial or full benefits; Medicare does not cover hearing aids. Our team can help check benefits and explain out-of-pocket costs.

Accepted Answer

They include professional services such as testing, custom programming, fittings, follow-up care, and adjustments, plus advanced technology and long-term support.

Question 54

How long do prescription hearing aids last?

Accepted Answer

Most last 5 to 7 years, depending on usage, care, and technology changes. Regular maintenance helps extend lifespan.

Question 55

Will prescription hearing aids restore my hearing to normal?

Accepted Answer

They don’t cure hearing loss, but they significantly improve speech understanding and quality of life for most patients.

Question 56

Are prescription hearing aids hard to get used to?

Accepted Answer

An adjustment period is normal. Your brain needs time to adapt. Follow-up visits allow fine-tuning for comfort and clarity.

Question 57

How often will I need follow-up appointments?

Accepted Answer

Most patients have a few visits in the first months, then annual checks, adjustments, and cleanings. Updated hearing tests are recommended if hearing changes.

Yes. Many offer Bluetooth connectivity for streaming phone calls, music, and TV audio directly to your hearing aids.

Question 59

Prescription hearing aids can be reprogrammed as your hearing changes. Regular evaluations help ensure they continue to meet your needs.
